soul revision #1
oh hey, welcome to my new recap… I’d say weekly, but…we shall see #adhd 🦦
…for the eyes - film, show, artwork that’s moved me recently
…for the ears - music that fits my current vibe
…for the feels - dopamine boosting photography, everyday moments of gratitude, a poem from me to you, memorable quotes, books that make the world a better place… whatever floats my boat - and hopefully your hearts.
Shall we?
a show for everyone feeling both deeply connected and wholly separated from the people and world around you:
Sugar on AppleTV+
Colin Farrell as a private investigator with an impeccable sense of fashion, adoration for film noir, an extraordinary way with words and a heart of gold sounds odd enough -
add the Hollywood madness, a highly questionable immunity to alcohol and some irritating yet fascinating social gatherings with just the right amount of twists and turns.
If you drink alcohol, I suggest you choose a good whiskey to accompany your viewing pleasure.
If you’re - like me - sober but fucked in the head nonetheless: get that iced white chocolate mocha with an extra dash of caramel, you deserve it, girl!
Knock Knock - we’re having a flashback to 2018.
This week’s soundtrack is powered by Mac Miller’s NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert.
There’s not a single Tiny Desk concert I don’t like but this one, geez - so pure, so raw, so full of joy.
It makes me both sad and happy to bring Mac back like this - for those three wonderful songs, he’s sitting right here next to me.
Take it nice and easy. Took a flight to see me. Send you back home with a light that's beaming.
…who am I to tell you what or even if you should feel or not?
As a Borderline, I often (mostly) struggle with identifying my emotions - it actually took me 30 years to be able to recognize fear as such, it wasn’t until I’ve started Dialectical Behavior Therapy three years ago.
So in this section, I want us to both take a minute… to pause. To be in this very moment. To slow down for a sec.
Breathe.
What do you see?
What do you hear?
What can you taste?
What’s that scent?
How do you feel?
I hear our foster dog Effie breathing steadily. I still taste the spaghetti we’ve had for dinner. The fresh tomatoes and herbs. I smell the rain and the wet leaves in Effie’s fur. Freshly brewed white jasmine tea. And I see Effie right there with me. Showing me her sweet, unconditional love.
Until next time - stay weird and wonderful!
